The Hondata 4 bar map sensor is a plug compatible replacement for the Honda factory MAP sensor. It is a direct replacement for the K-series Honda engines. This plug in sensor takes less than 60 seconds to install and eliminates the risk of sensor damage that often occurs when attempting to wire in other types of MAP sensors.
Wait, 4 bars of what?
The Bar is a measure of pressure, like PSI or Pascals. 4 bars is equal to (approximately) 58 PSI or 400 kPa. The stock Honda K series MAP sensor is only effective to about 11psi. So if you intend to run a turbo or supercharger setup that will approach or exceed around 11 pounds of boost, it is necessary to use this MAP sensor so that your ECU can get accurate plenum pressure readings. Getting an accurate pressure reading is critical to maintaining a correct air/fuel ratio because the reading that the MAP sensor sends the ECU is used to calculate exactly how much air is forced into the engine.
What engines and vehicles will this work with?
The sensor is designed to work with most OEM K-series throttle bodies. It will also work on BDL throttle bodies designed for the K series motor. The specific vehicles it will work with are the following (of course, it will also work in any engine swapped vehicles that have a motor from one of the cars on this list): 02-06 Acura RSX Type-S 02-06 Acura RSX Base 02-05 Honda Civic EP3 05+ Honda S2000 01-05 Civic (all models)
